Has the LHC destroyed the Earth yet?

No, and it’s not going to, despite many such proclamations and the existence of a web site that exists to test this premise (actually, there’s more than just one). But it has produced some pretty interesting results, including what seems to be a forthcoming announcement on July 4th of the discovery of the Higgs boson particle.

Nevertheless, people maintain theories on exactly how the Large Hadron Collider at CERN will undermine us all. Thankfully, there are some knowledgeable people out there to help dismantle and dispel these theories.

Recently, Discovery News published an article and corresponding series of graphics illustrating the Top Five Misconceptions about the LHC.  I found this interesting, as I’m asked about the majority of these points every once in a while, although admittedly, nobody’s asked me to confirm whether Nibiru is really on its way back to annihilate us.
